Places You Can't Miss in Gran Canaria

Go Bananas Tours · 28/09/2026

Gran Canaria is full of incredible places beyond the hotel. Crystal-clear beaches, mountain landscapes, charming villages, entertainment areas and some of the best viewpoints in the Canary Islands.

Here are 10 places worth including in your trip to Gran Canaria.

1. Amadores Beach

Amadores Beach is one of the best-known beaches in the south of Gran Canaria. Its light-coloured sand and calm waters make it a perfect place to spend a few hours sunbathing and swimming.

Along the beach you will also find restaurants, terraces and everything you need to spend the day.

Ideal for: a relaxing beach day.

2. Anfi del Mar

Anfi del Mar has one of the most tropical settings in the south: white sand, palm trees and turquoise waters.

As well as enjoying the beach, the area offers different water activities, so you can combine relaxation and adventure on the same day.

Ideal for: the beach, families, couples and water sports.

3. Yumbo Centrum

Yumbo Centrum, in Playa del Inglés, is one of the best-known entertainment areas in the south of Gran Canaria. During the day you will find shops and restaurants, while at night the area comes alive with bars, terraces, music and shows.

It is a great place for dinner, drinks and enjoying the nightlife after a day at the beach or on excursions.

Ideal for: going out at night, having a drink and enjoying one of the liveliest atmospheres in Playa del Inglés.

4. Holiday World Maspalomas

If you want to swap the beach for an afternoon or evening plan, you can visit Holiday World Maspalomas.

You will find rides, bowling, karaoke, restaurants, bars and different entertainment options.

Ideal for: families, couples and groups of friends.

5. Maspalomas Dunes

The Maspalomas Dunes are one of the symbols of Gran Canaria and a place worth visiting at least once.

You can walk through the dune area and then continue towards the Maspalomas Lighthouse and Meloneras.

We recommend going in the late afternoon, when temperatures are more pleasant and you can enjoy the sunset.

6. Roque Nublo and the mountains of Gran Canaria

The interior of Gran Canaria is one of the island's absolute must-sees. As you head up into the mountains, you will find scenic roads, ravines, small villages and some of the most spectacular landscapes in the Canary Islands.

Roque Nublo is one of Gran Canaria's great natural symbols and one of the best-known places in the area.

If you do not want to drive on the mountain roads, some of our tours explore the interior of Gran Canaria and visit different iconic places around the island.

7. Agaete and Puerto de las Nieves

In the northwest of Gran Canaria you will find Agaete and Puerto de las Nieves, a coastal area with a completely different atmosphere from the south.

It is a perfect place to stroll by the ocean, discover the area's traditional architecture and stop for fish or Canarian food.

8. Fataga and the Valley of a Thousand Palms

Fataga is a small village located among the southern mountains and surrounded by the famous Valley of a Thousand Palms.

Its traditional houses, small streets and surrounding landscape make it a perfect stop for discovering the more rural side of Gran Canaria.

In addition, some of our excursions and island tours pass through this area and other inland villages.

9. Pico de las Nieves and its viewpoints

If you want to enjoy some of the best views in Gran Canaria, it is worth heading up towards Pico de las Nieves and the viewpoints in the centre of the island.

From the highest areas you can see mountains, ravines and, when conditions allow, even Tenerife and Mount Teide in the distance.

It is one of the best areas to understand why Gran Canaria is known as a miniature continent.

10. Meloneras and Maspalomas Lighthouse

To end the day at a relaxed pace, Meloneras is one of our favourite places in the south.

You can start by the Maspalomas Lighthouse and walk along the oceanfront promenade, where you will find restaurants, terraces and shops.

Especially at sunset, it is one of the best places to simply take a walk and enjoy the atmosphere of southern Gran Canaria.
